Laurent David was appointed General Delegate of GIIGNL in July 2023, bringing over two decades of extensive experience in the energy sector. Prior to this, he led the Strategy Department for Gas, Renewables, and Power activities at TotalEnergies from 2020, where he played a key role in shaping the company’s long-term vision in these critical areas. Laurent is a recognized expert in LNG, having managed strategy and market analysis for ENGIE's LNG portfolio prior to its acquisition by TotalEnergies in 2018. His deep understanding of global energy markets is rooted in a career that began with a PhD focused on gas market deregulation in the UK and the US. Over his time at ENGIE, Laurent made significant contributions to corporate strategy, notably in gas, power, and CO2 scenario planning, helping steer the company through pivotal transitions in the energy landscape.
