Melanie Lovatt is Finance Advisor at Poten & Partners’ growing business intelligence division. She analyses liquefaction, regasification and LNG shipping, focusing on sources of funding, how deals are structured, and the relationship between LNG contracts and finance.

Since October 2022 she has managed a team of global analysts who provide coverage of LNG contracts, pricing, markets, and projects for Poten’s monthly research report, LNG in World Markets. From the beginning of 2014 she has also been team leader on the company’s quarterly LNG Finance in World Markets research report, which delivers unique data on LNG funding provided by commercial banks, export credit agencies, multilateral development banks, bonds, funds and private equity.

She has given presentations and appeared on and moderated panels that focus on LNG and LNG finance at conferences in Singapore, Germany, Barcelona, Athens, Mozambique and Equatorial Guinea.

Prior to joining Poten Melanie was Managing Editor at Middle East Economic Survey and before that she reported on commodities markets in New York at BridgeNews global wire service (subsequently sold to Dow Jone), Platts Metals Week and Metal Bulletin.

Melanie is a British and Cypriot national and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Hull in the UK.
