Alexander Lücke has been the head of the energy security department, gas markets, in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (since 2022). He is responsible for gas & LNG supply and infrastructure, critical energy infrastructure, the Energy Security Act and the implementation of the heat, gas and electricity price brake. From 2018 to 2022, as head of the state aid control policy department, he was the central contact for all German state aid cases and responsible for state aid policy. Before heading the state aid department, he worked in various departments of the ministry, including competition law, trade law, labor market policy and in the office of the minister and state secretary. Before joining the ministry in 2004, Alexander Lücke worked for several years as an antitrust lawyer in an international law firm.
