George Nemeth

Chief Commercial Officer Commonwealth LNG

BIO

George Nemeth is the Chief Commercial Officer for Commonwealth LNG, a US-based company developing a 9.3 million ton per annum LNG export facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana.

Mr. Nemeth joined Commonwealth LNG from Sempra Infrastructure where he worked for five years to commercialize several LNG export projects including Cameron LNG (Louisiana), Energía Costa Azul (Mexico) and Port Arthur LNG (Texas).  Most recently Mr. Nemeth led the origination efforts and SPA negotiations for the European offtakers of Port Arthur LNG Ph1, a $13 billion LNG export facility located in Texas that achieved FID in March 2023. 

Mr. Nemeth has more than 20 years of experience commercializing gas and marketing and trading LNG.  Mr. Nemeth began his energy career with ExxonMobil working on projects around the world including in Russia and Qatar.  After his last posting with ExxonMobil in Doha, Mr. Nemeth moved to the trading side of the business to launch LNG trading desks at Merrill Lynch Commodities, Société Général and Koch Supply & Trading and directed LNG business development initiatives for AES Corporation.

Mr. Nemeth currently leads the commercialization and marketing efforts for Commonwealth LNG with the goal of delivering clean-burning natural gas to world markets.  He holds a master’s in business administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
